CHANGES TO BRITISH AIRWAYS SEATING POLICY
In December 2006, BA introduced changes to the way travel agents are able to pre-allocate seats for their customers. The new seating guidelines are designed to simplify the process of choosing a seat and give all passengers more transparency and control of the seating options available on their flight.

Corporates who have a deal with British Airways:
Will continue to enjoy the benefit of pre-selection of seats at the time of booking. They will also have a greater choice of seats to choose from. ALL seats on the aircraft will now be available to select, on a first-come-first-served basis. This is a substantial increase from the previous availability, whereby only a proportion of seats were available for pre-selection.

Corporates who DO NOT have a deal with British Airways:
To make more seats available at the time of check-in, BA have reduced the number of seats that can be pre-assigned. This option will be limited to specific groups of travellers, for example, families with young children, First Class ticket holders, Gold and Silver Executive Club members and those holding fully flexible tickets across all cabins.

The best way to secure the seat of your choice will be by using ONLINE CHECK-IN from 24 hours before the flight departs. The earlier you check in, the greater the choice of seats available. Once a seat has been chosen, it will not be changed, subject only to rare operational requirements

As a result of these changes, British Airways’ Special Service and Customer Service staff at the airport will no longer be able to change your seat request once you have checked in and printed your boarding pass.
